From Injury to Insight: The History of Blissology Yoga Alignment

Let’s go slow + understand the general before we get into the specifics of the poses. In this video we take a look at the evolution of Blissology Yoga Alignment starting with how I healed my knee injury.

In order to keep the stress off of my kneeI had to “de-prioritize” having Hips and Chest on the floor. I had to learn to stabilize my knee joint through activating my foot arches and then press the distal and proximal attachments in two directions. This created an enjoyable stretch and I loved the sensation.

Much of modern yoga is about increasing flexibility at any cost but this can result in joint instability. We want to learn how to steer the pelvis. Of course, we still need to find the softness and release in the pose. This is why we have adapted the Chinese Yin and Yang symbols so we have a model to share the forces the stabilize through supportive tension, steer the bones and provide upward lift and the forces that provide mobility, ease and downward release.
